Job Purpose
The Business Development Technologist will play a key part in enabling the Circuit Board Assembly Business Unit to deliver on their breakthrough strategic objectives by serving as a strategic link between our customers and our internal applications and R&D teams. The BD Technologist will build a foundation for our business focused on bringing expertise to the marketplace as an industry leader who is skillful at taking the needs of our customers, coordinating internally, and producing effective integrated solutions. To that end, this role will also be the owner/architect of our Integrated Solutions Applications Project Portfolio (aka Project Rover and its subsequent interations) in support of the Break Through Strategic Objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a bridge between our customers and our internal technical (Applications & R&D) teams by developing and deploying strategies that effectively translate customer technical roadmaps (TRMs) to internal stakeholder action plans
- The area of focus for the role will be to support the CBA Break Through Strategic Objective around “Integrated Solutions” involving material sets that include both our soldering and polymer protection/reinforcement technologies
- Act as an expert for our internal teams with regards to how specific integrated solution material sets are being used at our customers. Take this expertise and serve as a guide to our internal teams, providing input, guidance, and oversight in order to produce effective solutions
- Become the internal leader and go-to expert around customer needs focused on select target segments and corresponding Global OEMs, taking these needs to our team by understanding specific technical requirements and marketplace trends while highlighting key risks and pitfalls to a variety of internal stakeholders
- Effectively engage with customers at TRMs and bring learnings back from customers to our R&D teams, effectively engaging them and ensuring a closed loop with R&D that key learnings from customers are incorporated into future project technical plans to accelerated new product/process development timelines
- Support and own, in conjunction with the VP – Circuit Board Assembly, a Level 1 objective which is tied to a BTSO
- Maintain forward progress and determine countermeasures to any obstacles that impact overall BTSO and L1 success
- Mentor and act in an advisory capacity to other R&D projects that may require additional insights across the Semiconductor and Assembly Solutions Division.
Requirements & Qualifications
- BS in a STEM field, preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- 15+ years of relevant Semiconductor and/or Materials Science experience
- Strong ability to collaborate with others in an individual contributor role
- Team player and willing to work with individuals of all backgrounds and in different groups and reporting lines
- Ability to function effectively in a matrixed environment
- Open to feedback and able to effectively coach and provide feedback to others as a partner/mentor
- Ability to adapt to changing market and other conditions as appropriately
- Demonstrated track record of strong performance in the Semiconductor Materials space
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
