Position Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for advancing Bellevue College's use of dashboards and data visualization to support data-informed decision-making by designing and publishing data visualizations and dashboards across the College. Beyond having an operational understanding of all of the data used for dashboard development, they serve the designated operational data specialist for Effectiveness & Research, they provide an understanding of processes and information in Human Resources, Administrative Services, and Information Technology Services, informed by trusted relationships with subject matter experts in those areas. Additionally, they extract and curate data across data sources both internal and external and analyze that data in to support institutional and departmental evaluation and planning.
To be successful, the Business Intelligence Analyst will be analytical, collaborative, and organized. They will work in close partnership with the Data Services Manager as well as colleagues across various operational divisions to understand, prepare, and share relevant and meaningful information.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Annual salary range: $70,915 - $102,848
Annual salary will be commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.

The Office of Effectiveness and Research is the source of official college information in support of institutional knowledge management and effectiveness.'' Effectiveness and Research supports the college's commitment to student success through strategic planning, research,and institutional continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Functions
Dashboard Development and Education
Establish and document standards for consistent information presentation across dashboards.
Collaborate with the Data Services Manager to establish reliable data sources for dashboard development.
Develop engaging and meaningful dashboards across all functional areas that answer common questions and tell valuable data stories.
Provide group and individualized educational opportunities to better understand, interpret, and interact with published dashboards.
Operational Data Investigation, Curation, and Documentation
Build relationships with subject matter experts in Human Resources, Administrative Services, and Information Technology Services to understand and be able to serve as the cross-functional specialist in operational data from those areas.
Partner with the Data Services Manager to construct and document curated queries and tables of operational data across systems.
Support efforts to ensure data quality and integrity by investigating unusual data trends and informing data stewards of inaccuracies.
Ad Hoc Operational Data Requests
Provide timely responses to data requests for operational data, including redirecting or including representatives from relevant offices as appropriate.
Maintain documentation of responses to data requests to aid future efforts and inform the development of future dashboards.
External Reporting of Operational Data
Support efforts to provide and/or validate operational data for governmental reporting, such as Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
Collaborate with the Grants Office and others involved in external partnerships and agreements to ensure reasonableness and feasibility of operational data sharing and compliance with such agreements.
Economic and Employment Trends Research
Support academic programmatic review and development efforts by accessing, analyzing, and summarizing employment trends for associated disciplines.
Extract relevant data from external sources related to college initiatives or needs as beneficial or required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Two (2) years of experience constructing dashboards using data visualization software (such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
Demonstrated experience using SQL programming language and programming in SQL Server including relational databases.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to address the use of data in evaluating and addressing inequities.
Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining cross-functional partnerships.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience accessing and interpreting external data sources (such as IPEDS, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Emsi, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.)
Effective written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an educational context.
Demonstrated knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics.
Experience working with financial and human resources data.
Experience with Tableau development and Tableau Server.
Experience with data integrations and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
Experience with Python.
Experience with R and integrating R into Tableau.
Experience navigating large relational databases such as student information systems (SISs) or enterprise resource platforms (ERPs).
