GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general direction and supervision from Director, Clinical Analytics & Decision Support, implements population health management and quality management solutions, including, but not limited to, clinical quality and managed care financial reporting analytical solutions, care coordination operational systems, physician tracking systems, reporting systems, patient registry systems and associate interfaces.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Works with senior team members and/or clinical and operational leaders and clients to identify, analyze, research, select, modify, or update population health solutions.
  • Collaborates with senior department staff and the Information Technology Dept. on the integration of current systems and the construction of new information systems to collect and process data necessary to operationalize population health initiatives and analytics.
  • Will, at times, when a senior staff member is not available, as a liaison with application vendors in order to locally support assigned systems / solutions and to achieve identified solution outcomes.
  • Fully understands the overall systems architecture of the department and considers this when analyzing and preparing information. Consults with senior staff members to complete understanding when not known.
  • Assists with or facilitates meetings, conference calls, web meetings, presentations, and other group communication methods.
  • Applies statistical methods (e.g., confidence intervals, control limits, etc.) as appropriate when reporting information.
  • Utilizes peer comparisons, benchmarks, etc. to gauge improvement potential advises clients of same.
  • Conducts and/or facilitates “drill down” and other ad hoc analyses of the data based on hypotheses, deductions and inferences derived from initial report review.
  • “Mines” internal and external databases, seeking and identifying causes of variation and refining improvement opportunities.
  • Consults with senior team members regarding the design of meaningful, insightful, compelling formats for the effective communication of information, customized to target audience(s) and applies this knowledge on an ongoing basis.
  • Using various databases, writes reports for use by other department staff and leaders for their use in generating data necessary to support population health management.
  • Coordinates the timely production and submission of reports per the specifications and timetables established by external bodies and internal leadership. Ensures that pertinent reports are distributed or are available to persons, committees, etc. that would likely benefit from the information.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years of experience in healthcare solutions or analytics, managed care, population health or quality solutions experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of key elements of managed care, population health, quality, and revenue cycle data, such as eligibility, claims, and HEDIS.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to articulate and document requirements and specifications.
  • Very strong skills and demonstrated capability in quantitative analysis with strong reasoning ability.
  • Initiative, curiosity and drive to quickly learn and understand in depth new systems and processes.
  • Ability to independently manage complex, simultaneous assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines and with limited resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and work effectively with both clinical and administrative management and staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Skill and experience in use of information processing tools (such as Word, Excel, Access or equivalent software) and internet navigation software; competent with SQL and/or reporting tools such as Business Objects, COGNOS, Crystal.
  • Project management and team facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead a small departmental implementation if required.
  • Ability to uncompromisingly maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
