THE ROLE: Buyer I

LOCATION: Waukesha, WI

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Exempt

OUR OPPORTUNITY:

The Buyer I tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendorinformation. The Buyer will purchase materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. They will also qualify vendors, evaluate bids, and negotiate prices and terms for purchased goods and services.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process MRP requisitions; review and approve purchase orders and/or blanket orders and schedule materials and services to meet productions requirements while leveraging contract agreements, price breaks and competitive quotes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for services and urgent drop shipments, obtain freight tracking numbers and communicate with vested parties.
  • Carry out warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures. Reconcile system discrepancies, process inventory transactions and adjustments according to departmental procedures.
  • Record supplier non-conformances and follow appropriate corrective actions per departmental procedures. Process returns for defective materials and parts and expedite replacement materials and parts.
  • Assist with the set-up of part numbers for purchase items as needed, including pricing, costing, lead-time, supplier, and MRP planning information.
  • Run MRP status reports and analyze for adequate levels of materials to meet projected production needs.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchasing related documents such as catalogs, product-related literature, and technical books and/or manuals. Ability to prepare reports, purchase orders and correspondence related to purchasing.
  • Proficiency in excel utilizing pivot tables and consolidating data for reports.
  • Basic algebra and ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deal with suppliers and individuals throughout the company.
  • Must possess the ability to build relationships with a variety of individuals and between various departments and levels of the organization.
  • CPM or CPIM certification is preferred.

Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related major and zero to two years' experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchasing related documents such as catalogs, product-related literature, and technical books and/or manuals. Ability to prepare reports, purchase orders and correspondence related to purchasing. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and with other employees of the organization.
  • Proficiency in excel utilizing pivot tables and consolidating data for reports.
  • Basic algebra and ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
  • Buyer experience working under stressful situations to address delivery constraints.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (EPICOR a plus) with minimal guidance. Sits in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deal with suppliers and individuals throughout the company.
  • Must possess the ability to bridge relationship with a variety of individuals and between various departments and levels of the organization.
  • Requires a valid driver's license.
  • CPM or CPIM certification is preferred.
  • Physical Requirements include: Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pulling, extended periods of standing, walking, ability to lift 25 pounds.
