Primary Function: The Buyer works under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Corporate Procurement and is responsible for sourcing, negotiations, and purchase of various assigned commodities from suppliers. This individual also initiates and evaluates supplier performance, quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
The Buyer must adhere to and promote consistent procurement practices that achieve and contribute to the departmental savings objectives and manage the supplier relationships to insure on-time delivery of quality products.
Essential Duties:
- Ability to effectively communicate for the purpose of sourcing, negotiating, meeting with suppliers/contractors and with internal departments
- Prioritize and meet the needs of the various departments in a timely fashion
- Manage supplier relationship and generate purchase orders for assigned commodities and monitor quality/timeliness of delivery, while also managing departmental expectations appropriately
- Works directly with supported departments as well as the Toray U.S. Group Companies procurement teams and serves as a team lead for assigned projects
- Initiates contracts with new sources of supply and awards contracts within assigned limits
- Champions cost saving initiatives
- May exercise limited supervision of administrative personnel for short period of time/project
Skills & Qualifications Required:
- Knowledge of commonly used Procurement concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- MRP/ERP system experience. SAP experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with other groups throughout the organization such as Engineering, Maintenance, Materials, Production, etc
Education & Experience Required:
- BS/BA Degree (preferred) and 5-7 years of related procurement experience. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- P.M. or C.P.S.M. certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
