The primary purpose of this position is to sit with & provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities, some of whom have behavior problems and/or medical conditions. Services are in the form of training, activities, & assisting with basic care. In addition to direct care, the position carries out goal programs to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living.
This is an entry level position.
Hiring Managers are looking to hire two employees, through Temporary Solutions, to work at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center for the following schedules:
Salary Grade MH01;

Salary Grade MH01;
- 24 hours per week, 3x8 days, Monday - Friday and every other weekend
- 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm)
- 3rd shift (11:15 pm - 7:15 am)

We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is located just an hour from the Queen City of Charlotte, home of the Carolina Panthers and the City of Asheville home to the world renowned Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn. Our facility sits on one of the most picturesque properties in Burke County. We are nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge and South Mountains and just minutes from beautiful Lake James. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following.
- Ability to learn techniques for carrying out program goals
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to follow instructions
- Ability to work with individuals who have multiple disabilities
- Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention, CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting
- Frequent lifting and bending required
- To be considered for employment, the applicant must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry
- The applicant must pass the physical requirements test
Management prefers employment experience in a large residential facility providing personal care and carrying out goal programs in areas such as bathing, dressing, toothbrushing, feeding, changing attends on adults, communication, and behavior modification.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
