Job Description:

The Cardiotesting Technician provides supportive and diagnostic services for the Cardiology/Cardiotesting Department.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Perform diagnostic ECG testing

2. Hook up and process 24-48 hour Holters, 30 day event monitors and Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry (MCOT's)

3. Support education to regional sites for ECGs and monitors.

4. Assists physicians/providers with performance of stress tests.

5. Administer Definity for echo related tests as needed.

6. IV start and D/C IV's as needed.

7. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested: Ex: monthly statistics; blood sugars; editing ECGs; able to perform all computer room responsibilities, attend educational/training for equipment and new procedures.

8. Assists with daily operations of the department: scheduling tests, back-up support for Scheduling Specialist.

9. Support department goals to facilitate Gundersen Health System strategic plan.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

High School Diploma or equivalency

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

1 year experience in related healthcare field.

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

DESIRED

Current certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or the National Healthcareer Association as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing as a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or American Medical Technologists as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

Adolescent (13 - 17 years)

Adult (18 - 64 years)

Geriatric (65 years & older)

OSHA Category:

Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.

Environmental Conditions:

Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).

Exposed to infectious diseases.
