Job Summary:
Founded in 1877, Regis University is one of 28 Jesuit Catholic colleges and universities in the United States and the only Jesuit University in the Rocky Mountain West. Located just minutes from downtown Denver, Colorado, Regis enjoys the amenities of a vibrant and progressive city while also being surrounded by quiet historic neighborhoods. Regis is a leader in online and post-traditional education with about half of all students taking some or all of their courses online.
The Student Success Coach walks in relationship with assigned students through the duration of their academic journey at Regis University. The Coach, concerned with the well-being of the student, serves as students' primary point of contact to help them maintain continuous enrollment, achieve academic success, and persist through graduation.
The Student Success Coach role differs from that of a traditional academic advisor. While the role of an academic advisor focuses primarily on prescriptive advising prior to registration each semester, the Coach's primary objective focuses on developing a caring relationship with the student and positioning each student's goals as central to success. The coach accomplishes this by engaging each student in a proactive relationship aimed at making the student one's peer. This "holistic advising" approach transcends beyond prescriptive advising or developmental advising to a genuine mutual engagement in care for the whole person during her/his academic journey at Regis University.
Working closely with a Student Success Team, which includes Admissions Counselors and Onboarding Coaches, the Student Success Coach serves as lead regarding matters related to timely completion of each student scholar's academic goals. The carefully curated relationship between learner and coach enables the coach to predict obstacles to success, and to intervene before problems become insurmountable. The successful Student Success Coach provides an extremely high level of personalized service and support to students by building and maintaining positive, communicative relationships with professionals and departments across the university to ensure that he/she may effectively refer students to necessary resources, services, information, and tools.
