Sertoma is seeking candidates who desire a family work environment with a passion to serve those who are less fortunate. Our caregivers are responsible for the health and welfare of the residents in our care while ensuring a "family" type home atmosphere.

The caregiver serves as a direct support professional (DSP) to our people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our caregivers perform a variety of tasks for our persons supported in well maintained homes that are owned and managed by Sertoma. As a caregiver you will aid our persons served by providing them with compassionate care, encouragement, and instruction throughout their day-to-day life. You will be working at one of our 34 homes located across Knoxville, TN. Each home provides residential services to 1-4 individuals that we serve and support who appreciate your compassionate care for them. Sertoma offers a manageable workload by assigning no more than 4 individuals to a single caregiver.

Job Type:

• Full-time with Over-Time
• Part-time (minimum 20 hrs. / week)

Caregiver Job Responsibilities:

Caregivers are responsible for caring for 1 to 4 persons supported at a time.

• Performs personal and health care related tasks with persons served such as basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, mobilization, medical monitoring, etc.
• Provides documentation of confidential information daily
• Ensures persons served personal safety by maintaining a safe environment
• Fosters a positive relationship between caregiver and person served
• Accompanies persons served to scheduled appointments

Caregiver Qualifications / Skills:

• Effective communication (verbal and written)
• Flexibility through adapting to a fluid work environment
• Leadership capabilities
• Dependable & trustworthy
• Capable of handling certain physical aspects such as bending, lifting, and standing

Caregiver Employment Requirements:

• No prior DSP or caregiving experience necessary
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid TN Driving Licenses
• US Work Authorization
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• 3 years of driving experience
• Written and Verbal Bilingual Fluency is a plus
