Description

The Case Management Assistant at Homeless Solutions, Inc. is responsible for providing client services to assist in the safe and effective operation of our Shelter program and facilities. This role will encompass a broad level of responsibilities and experience working with the clients in our Main Shelter. Ideal candidates will appreciate the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the field of social services / social work and direct care for vulnerable populations. Applicable candidates may be eligible for employer funded LCSW supervision as part of their employment and subject to availability.

This role is an on-site, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Men’s Division Manager. The standard hours for this role are 3pm-11 pm three days per week and 1 pm-9pm two days per week.

Duties and Responsibilities will include working with Case Management Staff to understand the individual needs and services for shelter clients to best facilitate their success in our programs, as well as:

  • Review medication logs in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collect weekly schedules from guests and appropriately enter them into tracking systems.
  • Appropriately assign housekeeping tasks/chores for guests and work collaboratively with Case Management to address related issues.
  • Ensure timely preparation and maintenance of program rosters, guest contact information sheets, emergency information cards and other administrative documents.
  • Ensure regular and complete file maintenance for current and discharged guests.
  • Investigate and report maintenance concerns in a timely manner following procedures; communicate with guests/participants/staff regarding related requests.
  • Complete daily dorm/room checks for the Men's Program and follow up with guests/Case Management when related issues arise.
  • Participate in all floor meetings and team meetings for the Men’s Division.
  • Assist with administrative requirements associated with case work.
  • Work collaboratively with Case Management Staff, Residential Support Staff and other team members ensuring seamless provision of services for program guests/participants. Cross train to provide as needed support in other roles.
  • Conduct periodic drug and alcohol testing and support Case Management during contraband searches.
  • Perform regularly scheduled safety checks including monitoring restricted activity areas.
  • Perform regular basic cleaning protocols to facilitate a healthy physical environment.
  • Assist guests in other HSI programs as needed and when requested by management.
  • Represent the programs and services of HSI in a positive manner.
  • Participate in professional development activities and share knowledge with other team members.
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with guests and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in service training and special projects as directed.
  • Exhibit strong personal accountability and awareness of and adherence to company standards, policies, procedures and processes in all aspects of employment with HSI.
  • Clearly communicate regularly with Residential Support Staff and other team members in order to ensure the seamless provision of services.
  • Respond professionally to the need for flexibility in response to organizational changes.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; further education in a social services related field is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of and demonstrated experience with administrative functions and Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Good interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory results of applicable periodic background checks
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance and reliable transportation are required during the scheduled hours for this position.
  • Accuracy and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently prioritize tasks.
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying supplies, up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally move about inside the residential housing facility, including navigating stairs and ramps. Ability to perform the responsibilities of this role on site at all HSI facilities.
  • Ability to complete repetitive motions including lifting, reaching, bending and/or twisting as might be used in cleaning assignments.
  • Clarity of vision at close and long range.
  • Mental Health Care and/or Administrative experience is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Full time permanent staff of Homeless Solutions are eligible to enroll in fully paid medical, dental and life insurance coverage plans in accordance with HSI policies.
