Basic Function: Owning our Guests Drive Home” is the primary purpose of this position. Last impressions are important! The checkout process represents the last interaction a guest has with our store and our brand before they head home. Cashiers play a crucial role in ensuring the last experience our guest has with us is excellent. This position requires a smile, and a positive, friendly presence. Also requires professionalism, a quick, accurate pace in checking out and bagging guest purchases.
General Responsibilities:
- Greet each guest warmly; Engage guests in pleasant conversation
- Process zip code & email information with each transaction
- Quickly and accurately process guest purchases
- Be familiar with items that are discounted and properly apply the discount to each transaction
- Accurately follow cash register daily opening procedures and nightly closing procedures
- Close credit card machine as part of register closing procedures
- Keep registers stocked with supplies such as register tape, credit card tape, bags, staplers, staples, ect.
- Maintain a clean, neat cash wrap area
- Maintain shopping carts and baskets in designated areas
- Re-stock all returned merchandise
- If there are not guests waiting to check out, find a guest on the retail floor space to help and interact with; work to keep sales floor neat
- Light stocking of adjacent apparel spaces
- Report suspicious activity or shoplifting to Assistant Manager, Manager or Asset Protection Manager; this includes stopping guest as they exit the store if the security towers sound an alarm meaning that the guests has something in his or her
- Be accountable for completion of daily tasks list for department
- All other tasks assigned by management
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Light to moderate lifting is required
- Repetitive motion is also required
Schedule Hours:
- 38 hour per week position requiring one to be at work as early as 7:00 am and stay as late as 6:30-7:30 pm; as late as 8 pm on Saturdays. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Saturdays are required; average one Saturday off each month
- All major holidays are also a requirement (excluding Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)
- Wednesday and Friday of Thanksgiving Week are required
- Annual Winter & Ski Event (1stSaturday in November) required
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Supervisor of assigned area
