Cashier for a busy 7-11 Convenience Store

PURPOSE:

Represent and promote the store operations in an up-beat manner, which insures customer confidence and maximum efficiency for the store. Cooperate with other departments of the company as a Team Player to best serve the needs of the customer. Sell the company goods and services at all times, primarily Gasoline and Diesel products, and convenience products such as cigarettes, soda, beer, candy, lottery, money orders and other grocery items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS for gasoline station cashier:

• Develop the ability to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers, gasoline console, Lottery Machine, Money Order Machine, and tank monitoring equipment.
• Make sales transactions quickly and accurately.
• Immediately greet every customer upon arrival in the store.
• Assist customers in their needs and demonstrate concern.
• Develop the ability of "Suggestive Selling".
• Maintain stock on shelves and coolers.
• Complete shift reports and account for inventory during vendor check-ins.
• Light housekeeping of counters, aisles, shelves, and receiving areas.
• Treat customers, co-workers, and vendors in a friendly, courteous manner.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Dress professionally each day, including any uniforms provided.
• Clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store.
• Willingness to attend company functions and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Good Communication Skills.
• Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• The environment is inside and outside in all kinds of weather.
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and move freely in the performance of the position.
• Ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth grade level.
• Ability to work in a cooler at temperature of 34 degrees up to 30 minutes at a time.
