Job Summary
Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick Maine with a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop and organic garden that all supply food to our 2 dining halls and 3 retail locations. This position supports our dining department.

The Smith Union Operations Lead will support to the dining operations of Smith Union, with primary emphasis on Jack Magee’s Grill. These responsibilities include taking food orders from customers, operating computerized registers and checking systems, and expediting orders. The Smith Union Operations Lead will also assist in set-up and upkeep of the front and the back of the house operations.
  • This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus ($250 on first paycheck and $250 after 90 days).
  • Hourly range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $19.75 – Maximum $20.75/ per hour (This role is eligible for overtime)
  • This position will require a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of cash registers and personal computers.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written directions and perform simple math.
  • Possess good decision making and organizational skills and be an effective communicator
  • Demonstrated reliability and ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work independently within a team atmosphere.
  • Must demonstrate good personal hygiene practices


Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
  • Minimum of 1 year of related food service or retail sales experience
  • Experience with computer word processing and spreadsheet applications


Preferred:
  • Purchasing, inventory management, and receiving experience

Standard Work Days and Hours
  • This role is scheduled to work Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.
  • The role will be required to work occasional overtime, holidays, and during weather emergencies, in addition to working major college events and weekends (i.e., Parent’s Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions).
  • This position is a full-time, year round position working 40 hours/week for 52 weeks (1.00 FTE)
