Summary of Position:
Reporting to multiple persons of the management team, the CDL Driver safely operates the vehicles involved in the construction industry.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Responsible for safely hauling asphalt paving materials and equipment.
  • Will be required to maintain necessary logs, driving records and DOT certifications.
  • Complete Daily pre and post trip inspections of vehicle.
  • Complete driving assignments in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure the equipment has current registration and insurance.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading equipment.
  • Responsible for asking someone to guide you when loading or unloading equipment.
  • Responsible for hauling debris as directed to dump site locations.
  • Proficient in pulling asphalt sled if trained to do so.
  • Ensure you never overload a dump trunk.
  • Responsible for checking with the Foreperson/Superintendent for clear direction when performing a task that is not routine.
  • Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
  • Other construction related duties as required.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety tailgate meetings.
  • Review safe work plans with crew prior to job commencement.
  • Work with the Safety Director to investigate damage, incidents, or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Work in a safe responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the company.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring your hard hat, protective eyewear, and safety vest issued to you is worn and with you at every job site.
  • Responsible for wearing all protective clothing.
  • Responsible for keeping the CDL as well with the Medical Card current.
  • Responsible for contacting your Foreman if you are going to be late for work (or absent) the day prior.
  • Ensure you have plenty of water to drink and adhere to the Heat Prevention Policy.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Valid CDL, Medical Card and Driver License.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience within the construction industry.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience of CDL driving.
  • Must possess a clean CDL record with no D.U.I. or felonies.
  • Must be able to provide a current M.V.R. at the time of interview.
  • Super 10 experience as well as strong arm experience.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction.
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • A problem-solving ability.
  • Very good physical strength and stamina.
Working Qualifications:
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Familiar with asphalt plants and dump sites.
  • Familiar with Thomas Guide and/or GPS systems.
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Use of appropriate safety equipment is required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Pass Pre-employment drug screening and maintain compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Pass Pre-employment physical and medical evaluation.
  • Must comply with the company’s Fleet safety Management Policy & Accountability to Safety Code of Safe Practices.
  • Must comply with company’s Discrimination & Harassment Prevention Policy & Correction Policy.
