GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides expert consultation in the areas of clinical issue identification and analysis, statistical data analytics, clinical process redesign, identification and deployment of evidence based clinical best practice methodologies, and identification of strategic opportunities/risks. Assists leaders in translating issues, and implementing goals & objectives into practical and integrated changes and processes, which ensure optimum clinical quality and performance. Able to prioritize competing projects and deadlines. Analyzes the current state of the business methods and provide in-depth analysis, documentation and a proposed future solution. Can convert business requirements into functional and technical requirements. Serves as the expert consulting resource for quality, safety, clinical data analytics, clinical effectiveness, culture of safety, and infection prevention to multiple large-scale macro-system clinical programs and clinical performance improvement teams that are formed to identify best practices, be data driven to improve complex clinical care delivery initiatives. Teams can be strategic, local and/or system-wide.
Position functions at multiple levels in the organizations, including single department, interdepartmental, hospital-wide and system-wide. Scope is to provide internal clinical data analytics and performance improvement support consulting work to all acute care hospitals, physician practices, post-acute care facilities at Beaumont. Primary interaction is with executive and clinical leadership and manager/department level leaders; across the system and at local sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Identify and generate actionable clinical data analysis for clinical care focused teams to improve clinical care processes to optimize quality, safety and outcomes for patient care
2. Data analytics experience (Excel, Access) needed to translate complex risk adjustment algorithms, as well as detailed specifications from payers such as CMS, Blue Cross and others, as well as evidence based best practices, into benchmarked, actionable analysis, scorecards and dashboards
3. Develop engagement strategy with physician and nursing leadership by developing and translating into actionable information, interpreted multi-layered data analytics, testing hypotheses resulting in meaningful plans for clinical teams to utilize and implement to achieve optimal outcomes in quality, safety, culture of safety, and infection prevention
4. Perform complex analysis using appropriate analytical and statistical techniques and modeling, pulling from various data sets to make information meaningful to clinicians
5. Manage and deliver large-scale macro system enterprise projects for clinical process improvement
6. Manage physician, nurse, clinician, administrative, and executive relationships across multiple sites of care and clinical performance improvement teams
7. Identify focused clinical performance improvement solutions by translating data into actionable, tangible implementation tactics
8. Support structural and cultural changes required with meaningful input for optimal clinical care process
9. Create and interpret various clinical dashboards/scorecards for the entire system, for each site of care, for physician groups, and for various payer groups to drive clinical care process improvement efforts
10. Prepare and communicate written and oral reports to customers translating the clinical data analytics into actionable information
11. Create intellectual capital and provide thought leadership in assigned clinical practice areas
12. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of healthcare clinical data analytics, evidence based best practice, and industry innovations by reading literature and maintaining colleague networks
13. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all internal and external customers, including physicians, nurses, administrators and others who support clinical process improvement
Project Manager II
1. Moderate data analytics or comparable experience
2. Moderate comfort level with data analytic principles and quality standards; able to easily articulate them to others
3. Mentored by higher level Project Managers, Clinical Analytics Manager, Director, VPs
4. Moderate input from manager regarding work product
5. Moderate work direction from higher level team members, may check in with others from time to time
6. Some work assignments come from manager, others from projects
7. Beginning to create work assignments independently
8. Work assignments begin to transition to more project-based
9. Has ability to know when to seek assistance with tasks and projects
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree or comparable information technology work experience
- Minimum of 3+ years in internal corporate consulting, or information technology, or quality and safety clinical data analytics and performance improvement
- BSN or clinical training or experience in information technology a plus
Other Qualifications:
- Excellent critical thinking skills, client management relations skills, project management skills, results orientation, and oral and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of clinical data analytics, statistical analysis, performance measurement systems, clinical process re-engineering, and clinical process improvement methods. Advanced abilities to turn data into actionable information for clinicians. Project Manager level based on experience/skills.
