Dental Assistant Job Description

Duties:

To assist in providing dental care for clinic patients. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
• taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
• asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse
• serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
• providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
• teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;

(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)

• taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
• performing office tasks that include patient eligibility and charting
• communicating with patients (e.g., eligibility verification, scheduling appointments)

Training (all training will be provided):

Mandatory training includes the following: HIPAA training; Safety training and CPR Certification.

Hours:

This position is 4 or 5 days a week to cover the days and times the dental clinic is operating as well as to provide support to the clinic team and the patients in both the dental and medical clinics. This is a part-time position with a maximum of 25 hours per week.

Compensation:

This position pays $16-18.00 per hour. Pay periods are the 15th and 30th of each month.

Probationary period:

The probationary period for this position lasts up to 90 days from date of hire.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

Dental Assistants wear masks when working with patients. Team members may wear masks if they choose to do so.

• Jacksonville, FL 32210: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
