PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Location: Knoxville, TN

Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00

SUMMARY

Provides patient assistance to accessing services that best meet the healthcare needs of the individual.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data entry of patient information to assist patients in obtaining prescription assistance with pharmaceutical companies.
• Provide excellent customer service to all patients
• Assist patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders
• Enter prescription orders into the pharmacy computer system
• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations
• Communicate with insurance carriers
• Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions
• Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization
• Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams
• Prepackage bulk medications
• Prepare pharmacy inventory
• Stock medications and supplies; package medications as required for dispensing
• Identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program. Cpht. 1-2 year’s experience in retail pharmacy required with knowledge of third party processing.

Knowledge/skills:

Knowledge of third-party insurance processing preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills a must.
