The Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation & Pediatrics is a skilled nursing facility caring for both the geriatrics and pediatrics populations. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to be the Charge Nurse for our Pediatric Unit.

Responsibilities as a Charge Nurse:
The primary purpose of this position is to work under the direction of the Clinical Manager and Director of Nursing in performing the day-to-day responsibilities of the Nursing Unit. Other responsibilities include:
- Be able to handle complexity of a Pediatrics unit
- Ability to care for patients with NGT, GT, Tracheostomy, wound care, and temperature instability
- Be able to care for patients on a ventilator machine
- Make daily rounds of all residents and report conditions to the Clinical Manager
- Dispense medication and perform treatments in accordance with Phoenix Center policies and procedures
- Assist the physician on rounds and ensure that pertinent information is communicated to and from him/her and orders are taken correctly
- Complete admission and discharge assessments on all residents as necessary
- Maintain accurate resident care records and documents
- Attend and participate in the resident care meetings, staff meetings, and in-services
- Take an active role in teaching and guidance to residents, families, and staff
- Assure that each resident’s attending physician and family, or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the resident’s health condition
- Manage conflict through effective problem-solving and communication skills
- Act calmly and efficiently in handling emergency situations
Requirements for a Charge Nurse:
- Completion of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
