Job Summary
Reporting to the Chancellor and closely partnering with the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), facilitates operational efficiency and effectiveness, continued growth, and fulfillment of the District’s vision and strategy. The COO plays a central role on the leadership team, steering administrative and operational functions, while partnering closely with the Chancellor and new Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on strategy and planning, financial sustainability, human resources management, technology, and public safety. The COO will manage much of the organizational structure of the District and will ensure current policies and procedures are examined and assessed for efficiency, effectiveness, and proper execution. Ultimately, the COO will have an energetic vision for increasing integration, efficiencies, and strategic relationships. The COO must be familiar with higher education and emerging best practices and trends in technology, sustainability, and risk management, as well as be adaptable to the ever-changing environment of these areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications
The position requires an earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to business, organizational management, or leadership:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in executive leadership roles; excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity; understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues; solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics; ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
- Significant experience in two (2) or more of the following areas: Business Services, Human Resources, and Information Technology Services.
- Demonstrated professional achievement in a large complex enterprise with a commitment to excellence, collaboration, consensus-based decision-making, shared governance, efficiency, and effectiveness.

- Demonstrated commitment to foster and enhance an environment of inclusion, diversity, equity, and justice.
- Ability to define function areas and optimize structures in a complex, constantly changing system.
- Experience managing a significantly sized team, with planning, budgetary, and vision responsibilities.
- Ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple and sometimes competing priorities, including advanced delegation and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively present and use data for decision-making purposes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate vision and strategy, create coalitions, and strengthen relationships with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
- A high degree of financial acumen and significant experience formulating and implementing financial strategies.
- Demonstrated capacity to foster a healthy organizational culture, including the ability to inspire and motivate others, as well as to promote professional development opportunities.
