Grant Thornton is seeking a Chief Sales Officer (CSO) reporting to our National Managing Partner of Growth to lead our high performing and growing national sales team. Approved locations for this role include Los Angeles, CA and Newport Beach, CA.

The CSO provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship for the sales function. The CSO is accountable for overall sales organization performance, the profitable achievement of annual and quarterly sales and revenue goals, and for aligning sales objectives with the firm’s business strategy. This includes:

  • Aligning the sales organization’s objectives with the firm’s business strategy through active participation in strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Meeting or exceeding assigned targets for sales team sales, revenue, pipeline, deal origination and budget. This includes driving growth and achieving KPIs across all strategic industries and service lines.
  • Leading the recruiting, hiring, training, development, and retention of a high-performing and diverse sales team that enhances the Grant Thornton brand with our clients and prospects. This includes the management of an effective sales compensation plan, key sales team metrics and ongoing sales team training and development.
  • Establishing and maintaining impactful peer-to-peer relationships with clients and prospects, including engaging with and coaching sales team on strategic pursuits or the expansion of key client relationships.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Collaborating along with the National Managing Partner of Growth with other Grant Thornton senior leaders to determine strategies and specific actions to grow the firm in accordance with our strategic plan.
  • Ensuring the attainment of Sales, Revenue, Deal Origination, and Pipeline metrics by industry and service line through regular cadence calls with regional sales leaders, service line leaders and industry leaders.
  • C reating a positive, results oriented and motivating sales culture by organizing and executing All Hands Calls, one-on-one outreach, office visits, roundtables, trainings and other activities to drive retention and results.
  • Engaging with and coaching teams on strategic pursuits.
  • Coaching and developing the sales leadership and people leadership skills of the first and second line leaders reporting to you.
  • Directing recruiting efforts to identify, evaluate and secure top talent to grow the sales team.
  • Leveraging your personal network to create and advance business opportunities for Grant Thornton.

You have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 15 plus years of increasing sales, sales leadership, and executive leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a large, high performing sales team.
  • Extensive experience selling Audit, Tax and Advisory services or similar professional services.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain impactful C-suite relationships including CFOs, CEOs, business owners and boards.
  • Track record of success expanding diversity across a national team through recruiting, training, promotions, and retention.
  • Demonstrated expertise in personally leading and coaching others to lead and win large, complex pursuits.

The base salary range for this position in the state of California only is between $200,000 and $400,000.
