Overview:
Axient is seeking a Chief Staff Engineer I to support providing Integration and Test of a LiDAR for the ESES contract at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

The Senior Electrical Engineer position is an opportunity to participate on a high profile, fast paced mission at the NASA GSFC. This is a high visibility position which will require the engineer to interface with managers and engineers throughout the organization in order to meet critical mission milestones. The qualified individual will work as an electrical systems engineer on a spacecraft that consists of multiple circuit boards with functionality including command and data handling, high speed spacecraft interfacing, thermal control, power conversion and distribution, and mechanism control.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, refine, and implement the electrical system consistent with spacecraft requirements.
  • Generate requirements, specifications, ICDs, analyses, and test plans. Review documentation, attend reviews, resolve issues, and report results to the customer.
  • Support electrical design including command and data handling, high speed spacecraft interfacing, thermal control, power conversion and distribution, and mechanism control.
  • Perform grounding analysis and design, develop interface control documents, and support hardware fabrication efforts.
  • Perform EMI/EMC analysis and develop the necessary documentation.
  • Work with leads to ensure that designs meet all program requirements and that electrical interfaces are consistent across the subsystem.
  • Support troubleshooting of test anomalies during spacecraft system level integration and test, and work on anomaly resolution with other team members.
Qualifications:
  • 30 Years of experience
  • Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
  • Strong background in satellite electronic systems including familiarity with power and grounding architectures, digital interfaces.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with the end-to-end design, analysis, debug, and test of electrical systems for spaceflight missions.
  • Knowledge of verification and validation of electrical performance requirements through laboratory, EMI, vibration, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Familiarity with NASA systems development, configuration management, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in generating requirements, writing specifications, creating test plans, and preparing and presenting material for design reviews.
  • Good interpersonal skills as well as the proven ability to communicate with other engineers, groups, and management are essential.
  • High quality written and oral presentation skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
