Classroom Support Associate
Department: Information Technology Services
Hours: 20 hours per week (5pm to 10pm M-Th)
PT/FT/Temp: Part-Time
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Assistant Director for Academic Communication and Collaboration Technology
Brief Description:
The Classroom Support Associate position supports technology used in classes and meetings at Fuller Theological Seminary, both in-person and online. Job duties include setting up, tearing down, and operating audio-visual and video conference equipment, providing prompt technical support for classes and meetings (in-person and online), and regularly maintaining equipment in the classroom spaces. This position works as part of a friendly, customer-service oriented Tech Support team, and so excellent communication and collaboration skills are important. This position also spends a good deal of time working independently, so self-initiative and diligence are a must. In addition, adaptability, attention to detail, organizational skill, and punctuality are essential to this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for classrooms, meeting rooms, and collaborative work spaces
- Provide technical support for video conferencing systems
- Provide remote technical support for synchronous online classes and Regional Campuses
- Provide first-response computer support to classes, including faculty and students in an instructional role
- Provide customer service via phone calls, emails, Slack, and face-to-face interaction
- Communicate relevant issues to the larger Tech Support team and the Assistant Director
- Work independently on projects related to the maintenance and welfare of educational technology in classrooms, meeting rooms, and collaborative work spaces
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inventory checks as scheduled
- Conduct regular testing and cleaning/straightening of audio-visual and video conferencing equipment (projector, TV, audio system, cables, etc.) and restocking of classroom supplies
- Assist in operating audio-visual and video conferencing equipment for classes as needed
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Experience with audio-visual equipment and other classroom presentation technology (training provided)
- Experience with video conferencing equipment desirable, but training is provided
- Experience with Zoom software desirable, but training is provided
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills for Windows and Mac computers and audio-visual equipment
- Intermediate office skills (MS Office, Excel, Web, Google Apps)
- Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and peers
- Professional and courteous customer service skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to initiate action, make decisions, and solve problems independently
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work effectively and responsibly with little supervision
- Adaptability to changing situations

- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Able to lift 35 pounds and push 50 pounds on a cart
- Able to transport necessary equipment across campus and up and down 3 flights of stairs
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- This position is required to be on the Pasadena, CA campus
- Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards
Pay Scale:
The Seminary expects to pay $17 per hour USD.
