Job Description

Under supervision, with latitude for independent judgment, performs supervisory and/or moderately difficult clerical duties. In addition to performing duties of assignment level II at a more responsible level, also performs duties as follows:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and welcome patients in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Work closely with the clinical team to educate, promote and schedule patients via Epic.
  • Accurately register, scan and document patient demographic and insurance information in the Health Information System via workstation or mobile unit.
  • Verify insurance benefits and educate patients on costs related to their insurance if appropriate; educate patient on pricing transparency resource
  • Refer uninsured and underinsured patients to Financial Counselors to be screened for insurance eligibility and enrollment.
  • Explain to patients all consents and guide patients to sign electronically or manually via downtime process.
  • Attend all necessary training sessions to effectively perform the day-to-day functions.
  • Responsible for monitoring and processing electronic clinic referrals via Epic.
  • Perform all functions associated with Epic Cadence: All patient registration functions: Check In: verify/update demographic and insurance information, assign referrals to visit if applicable. Check out: schedule all follow up/radiology/referral appointments in EPIC to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Work in collaboration with Finance Department to resolve any insurance issues with scheduled appointment patients: non-par insurance expired HHC options, authorization of insurance.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and referrals for the patients as indicated by the physician.
  • Process and mail broken appointment letters utilizing Epic when necessary.
  • Additional duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
2. Eighteen (18) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement:
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
