Work hours: Monday – Friday, 0800 - 1330

Nature of Work: Individual will perform responsible clerical work involving related office tasks of a varied nature. Organize, sort and scan documents into Laserfiche; may coordinate workflow and filing system for active and inactive files; operates standard office machines and equipment.

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.

Minimum Requirements: High school or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with such positions as receptionist, office clerk, or office assistant.

Individual must be able to understand and follow oral and written directions; must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Individual must communicate clearly and courteously. Individual must be detail oriented.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, squat, and lift up to 15 pounds.

Special Requirements: All appointees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and emergencies.

Preference: Prefer individual with strong customer service skills; knowledge of personal computer applications and Laserfische; and a commitment to quality customer service. Ability to coordinate and perform all duties, scan documents, accurately file correspondence and maintain records. Individual must demonstrate respect, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements:

MINIMUMS: High school or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities and associated with such positions as receptionist, office clerk, or office assistant. VCIN Instructor: Instructors must be DCJS certified general instructors and must be level A operators with at least one year experience and have scored a minimum of 85 on Level A tests. In addition, each instructor must have successfully completed the Virginia State Police, VCIN, 40-hour VCIN basic instructor course with an average score of 85 on all tests. The instructor must attend and successfully complete annual VCIN instructor re-certification. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
