Job Summary and Qualifications: Clinical Coordinator Sterile Supply - Full-Time

The Coordinator of Surgical Services guides team members through the day to day operations of the unit. We work hard to support the patients and families in our community while supporting each other in our efforts to provide excellent care. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this Supervisor role:

  • You will develop working relationships with staff and physicians that work within the unit.
  • You will support the staff and work as a change agent, supporting system wide nursing initiatives.
  • You will obtain preliminary operating room scheduling information from clinical and surgical services and enters into scheduling system according to the system coding requirements.
  • You will determine he order in which the patients are scheduled, by reviewing procedures, time needed, and size of operating room available and schedules inpatients in accordance with Operating Room guidelines.
  • You will facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities which correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with involvement of all levels of staff on designated shifts as appropriate.

  • You will Posts add-on cases and emergency cases to scheduling system as required; reviews wait list and schedules cases as rooms become available.
  • You will print preliminary and final schedules for operating rooms on a daily basis, forwards final schedule to hospital printer group lists, and makes copies and distributes as appropriate.
  • You will be responsible for scheduling staff, including holiday coverage

  • You will ensure that work areas and equipment are in a clean and organized condition to maintain required standards for handling sterilized and clean materials and to maintain a safe work environment. You will assist in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and overall department operation

  • You will act as liaison between reps and other facilities in the effort to meet instruments needs.

  • You will work with physicians and staff to order new or replacement instruments. You will research contracts and works with supervisor and materials to meet department/hospital needs.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Two (2) or more years of previous operating room/sterile supply/ materials experience preferred.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire.
  • This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
