Clinical Coordinator-Diagnostic Medical Sonography (C)
Job description
- Supervising the clinical education portion of the program.
- Acquire and maintain qualified clinical sites for placement of students.
- Coordinating clinical site rotations.
- Perform regular clinical visits and assess student progress.
- Maintain positive relations with existing clinical sites.
- Assist the Program Director with the administration, planning implementation, development and evaluation of the program.
- Teach Diagnostic Medical Sonography [AB/OB] classes as needed during each quarter and maintain the requirements of those courses.
- Substitute for colleagues when necessary.
- Update syllabi, as needed.
- Follow academic calendar and curricula.
- Promote Caris College programs and curricula.
- Provide a safe environment for students and be responsible for the security of assigned equipment, materials and classrooms.
- Follow procedures related to the Director of Academic Operations’ office, including grade papers and deadlines, attendance record reports, withdrawal deadlines, midterm reports and the like.
- Inform students of their progress in a timely manner. Compile, administer and grade instruments that evaluate student progress.
- Counsel students and notify student and Program Director of frequent absences, failures, or necessary make up work.
- Meet all assigned classes on time in the assigned classrooms and be available 15 minutes before and after class, except between classes (if teaching courses back-to[1]back), to offer guidance/tutoring to students.
- Hold a minimum of two weekly office hours for student availability.
- Participate in all department faculty meetings. Participation requirements may be met through conference call, if unable to physically attend.
- Light travel required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Educational Requirements:
- Must meet ABHES, CAAHEP, KCPE, and BPE instructor qualifications.
- Faculty are required to participate in a minimum of two in-service activities per year with a focus on effective teaching as well as two professional development activities per year.
- Professional growth activities may include, but are not limited to, programs of continuing education, either for professional development or to maintain professional certification, membership and participation in professional organizations, participation in field- related workshops or seminars, and subscription to relevant periodicals or journals.
- Each faculty member is required to complete a Professional Development Plan for each year. Documentation must be provided to the Assistant Campus Director for instructor faculty files.
License/Certification Requirements: ARDMS and/or ARRT(S)
