ACL is searching for an energetic, self-motivated Clinical Laboratory Scientist Trainee to join our dynamic team.

  • Location/Department: Main Lab Microbiology
  • Shift - 1st shift initial training; may be required to work the off-shifts as training progresses.
  • Full-Time; 40 hours/wk
  • Weekend and Holiday Rotation
  • Shift differential, if applicable

As a professional Clinical Laboratory Scientist Trainee your job responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Perform molecular testing on multiple platforms
  • Sets, reads and interprets bacterial cultures
  • Performs and interprets identification and susceptibility tests
  • Performs Gram stains, FA stains, and other specialized stains
  • Perform EIA tests
  • Cross-trained to perform testing in Virology, Molecular, Mycology, Mycobacteriology or Parasitology
  • Performs maintenance and QC review on assigned instrumentation
  • Ensures that laboratory equipment is clean, functional, and calibrated
  • Stocks and organizes laboratory supplies and maintains company inventory records
  • Answers and responds to physician questions and concerns
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Respects and follows patient confidentiality laws
  • At the successful completion of the 12 month training, employee will be eligible to apply for open MT/CLS positions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree with a major in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences or a minor in biology, chemistry or the physical sciences and must meet applicable state credit requirements. Upon conditional job offer, candidate must provide a detailed original transcript.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Broad knowledge of basic chemistry techniques
  • In-depth understanding of operating practices and polices
  • Comfortable using medical technologies and lab equipment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings and irregular hours as needed
