The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the quality, health, and safety needs of the residents are met. This position is responsible for supervising clinical staff including RN, LPN, and Resident Assistants to ensure that staff are trained and compliant in nursing policy and procedures. They are responsible to ensure that the facility remains in compliance with current regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:
Resident
- Responsible for admission decisions based upon inquiry, resident assessment, UDALSA requirements and needs of current residents.
- Responsible for coordinating/completing admission/readmission/change in condition/14 day/90day assessments. Assessments are to be completed within identified timeframes and in accordance with the standard of practice.
- Responsible for maintaining current service agreements reflective of the service needs of each resident.
- Communicates resident service needs to staff and assures follow through.
- Responsible for the facilitation and coordination of resident services through other providers, i.e. home care, hospice, etc. Maintains holistic approach to resident.
- Assists with tours and explanation of services to potential residents.
Staff
- Conducts semi-annual review of staffing needs in accordance with state statutes.
- Communicates daily staffing needs with Staffing Coordinator.
- Ensures posting of staffing schedules as required by state statute. Postings are to be updated at the start of each shift.
- Assures that organizational policies and procedures, competencies are followed, i.e. medication administration.
- Provides training for RA and nurse staff as necessary based on new procedures, new competencies, review of competencies, performance concerns identified.
- Performs 30-day supervisory and PRN visits on RA staff.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensures documentation requirements are completed by nurses and RAs within the standard of practice and reflecting the condition of the resident.
- Risk management strategies are implemented to improve resident quality of life, decrease risk of survey and litigation exposure.
- Responsible for implementation and compliance of licensure regulations and is available for state licensure surveys.
- Develops plan of action for any concerns identified in quality of life surveys.
Management:
- Conducts interviews of perspective nursing employees.
- Responsible for training/implementing organizational policy and procedures.
- Responsible for investigating and reporting suspected vulnerable adult situations to proper county officials.
- Communicates information to staff in a variety of methods including the 24 hour communication book.
- Completes annual performance evaluations on all nursing department staff in a timely manner.
- Responsible to ensure staff participate in annual and ad hoc training sessions. Follows up to ensure continuing education hours are completed annually.
- Follows infection control guidance, facility infection control guidelines, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
- Responsible for overall documentation and disposal of medications as per facility policy.
- Assists with orientation of newly hired staff/day 2 orientation/medication administration competency assure compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
- Handles resident and employee grievances and documents on appropriate forms for referral to Administrator or Human Resources as appropriate.
- Responsible for recruitment, retention, supervision and disciplinary action of employees.
- Attends management meetings. Attends meetings and conferences within the Guardian Angels System to ensure continuity of care for residents.
- Responsible for the preparation and management of annual nursing budget.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program and licensed through the state of Minnesota and in good standing required.
- CPR Certification required.
- 3-5 years as an RN with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role required.
- Ability to work in dependently as well as in a group. Ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, institutions, and agencies.
- Computer knowledge required. Prior experience with Eldermark and e-call/e-neighbor systems beneficial.
- Knowledgeable of Home Care requirements and regulations required.
- Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain professional demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written (read, write) communication skills.
- Self-motivated, ability to prioritize. Effective problem solving skills.
- On Call and some evening and weekends is required.
- Ability to travel to individual homes or facilities to conduct assessments.
