Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH, https://www.ansirh.org) is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to conduct participant recruitment and data collection in English and Spanish for the Trajectories in Cannabis Use During Pregnancy Study. This a longitudinal study examining trajectories in cannabis use during pregnancy and factors associated with different trajectories of cannabis use during pregnancy. We will recruit pregnant people from participating clinics in Contra Costa County. Participants will be followed with confidential surveys administered electronically (online) and/or by phone. The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out recruitment, eligibility screening, and informed consent processes, as well as administering baseline and follow up electronic surveys and/or conducting phone interviews, transporting biological samples from participants, maintaining secure electronic databases, protecting confidential information, ensuring quality language translation, and responding to training and quality improvement measures. Surveys include sensitive topics, including substance use during pregnancy and mental health. Comfort discussing these issues and interacting in a positive and sensitive manner with individuals receiving or providing pregnancy-related healthcare services, as well as full fluency in Spanish, are essential.

The Trajectories in Cannabis Use During Pregnancy Study will start in May 2023 and ends in July 2027.

The CRC will perform independently or with general direction at the fully operational journey level of the series to execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols, as directed by the Senior Project Manager and/or Principal Investigator (PI); may coordinate the data collection and operations of the study under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF, and regulating agency policies. Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

OBSTETRICS, GYNECOLOGY & REPRODUCTIVE SCIENCE
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob/Gyn & RS) is a major academic Department in the School of Medicine (SOM), engaged in clinical, research, and training activities throughout the Bay Area. Required Qualifications

  • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Full fluency in English and Spanish languages (oral and written).
  • Experience working in a research, health, or social service setting that serves low-income, under-served populations.
  • Attention to detail; Strong interpersonal skills; Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments, and outside institutions; and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
  • Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology or similar field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a research, health, or social service setting that serves low-income, under-served populations.
  • Experience conducting research interviews or administering surveys in English and Spanish
  • Experience using Qualtrics, RedCAP, or similar electronic data collection and management systems
  • Active driver’s license for self-transport by personal car
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both in-person and over the phone
  • Experience and ability to work and interact positively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight to what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation
  • Comfort being present in prenatal health clinics and discussing pregnancy-related health issues, including substance use and mental health, without imparting judgment or bias to study participants
  • Experience working in a substance use, mental health, prenatal care, or reproductive health facility or social service setting
  • Flexibility to work nonbusiness hours
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask, and demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and use excellent judgment about when to seek support or guidance
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, and data management and security measures
  • Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.)
  • Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:
    • Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
    • The Protection of Human Research Subjects
    • CHR regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
    • Effective Cash Handling Procedures
