The mental health department at MGH-Revere seeks a skilled licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW), or a skilled licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), to add to our multi-disciplinary team of clinicians serving the health center’s patient population. The ideal candidate would have experience in providing clinical care to adults and children, be proficient in multiple modes of psychotherapy, have awareness and sensitivity to multicultural issues pertinent to our patient population, be able to navigate the psychosocial problems inherent in our patient population, and work well with other members of the team and health center. Additional language proficiency is desirable. This position largely involves providing individual therapy to patients with a diverse range of diagnoses.

HOURS/SHIFT: CAN HIRE FOR 20-40 HOURS
HYBRID MODEL: 4 DAYS REMOTE; 1 DAY ON SITE

  • Masters degree in Social Work, or an advanced graduate degree in mental health counseling
  • Massachusetts license in social work at highest level of eligibility (LICSW), or Massachusetts license in mental health counseling (LMHC)
  • Strong assessment and treatment skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective team collaboration
  • Provides psychosocial assessments, treatment interventions, and case management for patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal and/or environmental issues
  • Formulates biopsychosocial assessment and treatment plans.
  • Conducts mandated reporting when abuse is suspected (child, disabled adult, elder) and safety assessment when violence is suspected
  • Employs a range of psychotherapeutic interventions (individual, couples, families, group); psychosocial counseling; crisis intervention; care coordination/case management; information and referral and safety planning
  • Works effectively as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team. Provides psychosocial consultation on patient-care planning and patient/family management
  • Provides risk management. Facilitates the appropriate and efficient use of hospital resources.
  • Presents and/or discusses clinical work in formal and informal case reviews and seminars
  • Takes on-site and on-call duties; performs other duties as assigned

Teaching and Education:


  • May mentor or supervise graduate students or staff. May teach in departmental and hospital seminars/workshops/rounds

Collaboration:


  • Collaborates and consults with patient, families, professionals, and providers inside and outside the Hospital to develop and implement outpatient, pre-admission, inpatient and post hospital care
  • Refers to and collaborates with interdepartmental specialists and programs, outside agencies, facilitates, payors, and other relevant community resources

Organizational/Administrative Skills:


  • Takes responsibility for own administrative duties, including timely and appropriate documentation in patient medical records, timely and accurate daily reporting of activities via the department’s information system and hospital’s scheduling systems, and accurate reporting of time worked
  • Attends and participates in intra and interdisciplinary meetings and staff meeting
  • May participate in departmental and hospital committees

Professional Conduct:


  • Adheres to the profession’s clinical standards and Code of Ethic
  • Adheres to the Department and Hospital standards, policies and procedures
  • Promotes Departmental and Hospital public relations/risk management

Professional Development:


  • Participates in supervision as appropriate to level of licensure/professional developmen
  • Is responsible for own professional development. Attends pertinent continuing education and professional activities related to job responsibilities and career goals. Keeps current with health care development pertinent to job and profession. Complies with licensure requirements.

Patient Population:


The clinician in this position has knowledge of and responsibility for clinical treatment and mental health care coordination of adult patients (ages 18 and above) and children (ages 5-12) and adolescents (ages 13-17)
