Job Summary: The role of the CNC Machinist III is to utilize advanced machining techniques and processes to produce accurate and quality parts. This position has attained full proficiency as a CNC Machinist I and II and can successfully execute machining strategies for multifaceted jobs with minimal technical assistance with shop equipment. The ability to organize multiple projects and apply high level critical thinking skills is crucial for success in this position.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Independently perform the highest level of complex machining and programming activities in line with company capabilities
  • Setup high-end jobs on 3 axis, 5 axis and/or lathes
  • Available to be sought out to provide training and/or solutions to less experienced machinists
  • Design custom fixtures for machining various complexities of parts
  • Responsible for checking parts to print and models using various inspections techniques
  • Apply concepts to machine parts more efficiently
  • Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Mastered all Machinist I & II knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Mastercam/ Fusion360 programming software
  • Advanced understanding of G-code
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks modeling software
  • Advanced knowledge of 3 axis, 5 axis and/or lathe machining
  • Advanced knowledge of complex fixturing techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of high tolerance machining and geometric dimensioning
  • Advanced knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
  • Experienced working with multiple types of materials

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Degree in Machine Tool, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years CNC programming and machining experience required
  • Advance Knowledge using Fusion360 Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
  • Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
  • Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50+lbs with a team lift
  • Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Fast-paced environment
  • Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
  • Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Exposure to hot metal and machining components

WORK HOURS:
  • 1st Shift Work Schedule: 6AM-2:30PM Monday - Friday
  • 2nd Shift Work Schedule: 2PM-10:30PM Monday – Friday
  • Overtime as necessary
