GovTact's engineering prototype facility is looking for a CNC Machinist/Model Maker with at least 5 years’ experience to work in a precision machine model shop developing R&D marine prototypes and test equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineers and Designers, drawing on their knowledge of complex precision machining to create CNC programs for the fabrication of marine propulsors, model scale and prototype vehicles, and associated lab instrumentation and hardware. The ability to work with minimal supervision, possess a sound knowledge of best practices in tool selection and machining technologies and applying them to meet surface finish, tool life, cycle time and all quality requirements is a must.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

Ability to receive a security clearance

Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic manual machine tools, lathes, mills and a variety of CNC machines. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.

Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing.

Ability to inspect work produced, perform in-process and completed work inspections to verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments.

Knowledge of G and M codes with ability to program at the control to build fixtures and edit CAM generated programs

Ability to set-up and operate the full range of machine tools found in a well-equipped prototype development shop

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings

Knowledge of Mil-Spec and GD&T specifications

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

Welding

Ability to operate a forklift a plus

Active security clearance

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $51,200.00 - $98,500.00 per year
