Our customer is in need of some additional splicers with a heavy emphasis on coax to help support various clients and initiatives that are mainly driven by market expansion and efforts to increase bandwidth and capacity.
The Coax Splicer will be responsible for performing various types of splicing within the DMV footprint. The current need will be mainly within the Baltimore and DC area and supporting multiple major MSO's. Day to day can vary, but the majority of this work is on 2 man teams and a mixture of underground and aerial support. They do support Major Carriers, S&L, and Federal initiatives. Need to have solid coax splicing experience (Fiber is a plus as well), strong testing knowledge, and ability to read various prints.
They will get a company vehicle (Bucket truck) to use. On a daily basis they will report to one of the locations that is closest to their home (White Marsh, Hanover, PG County, etc) to gather materials and then go to various commercial job sites to perform splicing and testing.
Shifts can vary, but the majority of work and standard hours are 7am-3pm.
They are very big on cross utilization and training of resources so great opportunity to gain exposure to multiple technologies and service lines.
Top Skills Details:
1. 3+ years of Coax Splicing Experience.
2. Experience utilizing various testing tools not limited to Fluke, Power Meters, etc.
3. Experience utilizing OSP Insight or various other GIS tools to review designs and identify aerial or underground infrastructure.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Reliable, and Flexible.
Ability to Travel.
Work on teams and independently.
Experience with towing trailers is preferred as well. Needs to pass DOT.
Specific coax cable strand for this work is heavy on 625 and 875.
