The Commercial Development Program Manager is a developmental position, responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of commercial training for the US field team. Working under the Associate Director of Sales and Commercial Development, this role provides new commercial hires with baseline knowledge regarding the commercial business systems and processes of Abiomed.


The Commercial Development Manager is responsible for the design and execution of an individualized curriculum to meet new hires “where they are now”. The goal is to create training to allow for a seamless transition for new hires with diverse backgrounds. Partnering with the Commercial and Clinical Training team, this position leads in the recruitment and training of employees with diverse backgrounds, spearheading the Leadership Equity and Inclusion Program (LEIP).


The ideal candidate must be able to obtain results while using their network across multiple functions such as, Human Resources, Customer Service, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Market Insights, Training, and IT, and to be able to work independently and efficiently.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and execute training on the Tableau Sales analytics dashboards.
  • Recognize the educational needs of participants and customize a training plan for each individual to promote field success
  • Work with the Training department to help onboard new Associate Account Managers and Account Managers, clinical members of the commercial team, those who are promoted to new roles,
  • Routine Field travel to better understand both internal and external customer needs and to identify process and procedure efficiencies.
  • Assist the development of content and agenda at the Quarterly PAL, Monthly All Field Call (AFC) and host monthly Sales Leadership “Hot Topics/Training Calls”
  • Provide timely training performance feedback regarding New Hire Field Rides to Regional Directors/ Regional Sales Managers/Regional Clinical Manager and Area leaders as appropriate
  • Work closely with the Regional Sales Leader Advisory and the Commercial Leadership Council to understand Field Team feedback, issues, needs and “Voice of Customer” planning and design.
  • Develop a deep understanding and passion for the Outcomes Review training and process.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience recruiting and networking diverse individuals
  • Experience as an employee of Abiomed’s field team required
  • Integrity Selling “Train the Trainer” Certification preferred or completion within first 3 months of entering role)
  • High Potential for future Abiomed Leadership
  • Nomination by current Regional Director & Area Vice President
  • A passion for execution, process improvement and knowledge transfer
  • Strong computer, organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Tableau
  • Expert on business practices and resource utilization
  • Bachelors degree or clinical license required
  • Field travel up to 50%, with monthly trips to headquarters in Danvers, MA
