Position Summary

The Commodity Data Analyst will be part of the strategy team involved in managing, collating, and analyzing data for both discretionary and quantitative trading. This position will also build out machine learning tools and explore advanced data science methodologies to effectively support the team activities. This position will report to the Head of Research.

Position Responsibilities

• Spearhead data efforts including collection, feature engineering and warehousing, as well as maintenance.
• Building, Running, and Testing - hypothesis generation and analysis.
• Support buildout of systematic trading platform, processes, and research.
• Code modules to aid trading and data analytics for the wider team.
• Handle and interpret large amounts of data on a timely and frequent basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Understanding of econometric and statistical processes in relation to macro, fundamental, and quantitative aspects of commodity markets.
• Some working experience in agriculture/weather markets is preferable.
• Strong Excel skills; experience in using statistical software/s and programming preferred.
• Familiarity in working with SQL servers and large datasets.
• Database experience highly advantageous.
• Experience with Tableau and other visualization software is a plus.
• Working knowledge of data scraping and interactions with a wide range of API.
• High order of analytical and conceptual skills and ability to think outside of the box.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science education, with major elements in computer science and data analytics preferred, and a demonstration of knowledge gained through past projects.
• One (1) year of experience as an analyst/intern, preferably with financial institutions/ trade houses, with direct links to front office, strategy, or research.
• Strong programming experience in Python, C++ desired.
