General Qualifications:

The individual must be a person of genuine and deepening Christian character and willing to grow as a loyal participant of a ministry team. Must be a high school graduate and possess effective organization, communication, human relations, and computer/information technology skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Publisher. Experience working with Adobe Premiere Elements video editing software is a plus. Other desired qualifications include demonstrated competence in designing and producing publications, updating websites, and managing communications on social media. This position reports to the senior pastor.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate a church-wide communications program to strengthen the image of First Ozark, using all media deemed appropriate. Place emphasis on increasing awareness of the church and its ministries, informing members and attracting visitors while adhering to a consistent message (brand).
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of all church ministries, their activities and their relationships to one another in order to implement new and creative ways of expanding the outreach of the church through visual and digital media.
  • Work cooperatively with clergy, staff, and lay workers to gather the necessary information to communicate effectively; assist with media designs while maintaining the consistency of the church brand.
  • Keep church members informed about events through social media, text messaging, bulletin boards, church website and church calendar.
  • Maintain contact information for church members including the Phone-tree database and email addresses.
  • Prepare, print, and distribute the weekly worship bulletin for all church services during the year, including bulletin inserts on special occasions (Advent, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Confirmation Sunday, baptisms, etc.)
  • Create bi-weekly newsletter using information and announcements from church staff, members, or other appropriate sources including marriages, new members, births, baptisms, deaths, committee meetings, prayer requests, etc.
  • Distribute bi-weekly newsletter by mail and email, and post on the church website.
  • Proofread all church publications and correspondence to ensure accuracy and consistent branding.
  • In coordination with the stewardship campaign chairperson, design graphics and prepare communications relating to the annual stewardship campaign.
  • Ensure that communications celebrate the life of the church by using pictures and videos that depict faith in action.
  • Perform weekly back-up of computer files.
  • Develop and maintain a current office procedures manual describing the steps to be followed in performing the duties of the communications coordinator.
  • Plan, film, and edit videos recorded during the week to be posted to Facebook and YouTube. (Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro Elements editing software)
  • Assist in the following ways with worship service live streaming:
  • Weekly placement of equipment in its proper place on the floor of the FLC
  • Set-up of the audio/visual camera switcher mixing board
  • Hooking up the necessary cables to the camera, mixing board, and computer
  • Logging on to the streaming software, making sure the camera feed is live, and confirming the streaming signal is connected to Facebook and YouTube Live to be able to stream the NOW@9
  • Oversee the visual aspect and aesthetic of the live stream – camera and operator in proper placement. Properly format and compose shots
  • Break down, unhook, move, and/or store of all steps associated with equipment listed above
