ManTech has a career opportunity for a Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME ) in support of the Navy Collaborative Training Environment (NCTE) in Virginia Beach, Virginia . Qualified candidates must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance and current CompTIA Security+ certification with Continuing Education (CE)

Job Duties:

The Communications SME will be responsible for the operation, sustainment, integration for commercial SATCOM equipment, C, Ku, Ka, and MILCOM UHF, EHF, L, and X band satellite ground terminals/station equipment, baseband multiplexing, switching and routing equipment, new-fielded COTS equipment and systems.

Other duties include but not limited too:

  • Operate various encryption devices to include KIV-7, and KG-175(TACLANE) series. Strap, key load, and verification of lock for all installed encryption equipment.
  • Perform Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Satellite Communications Systems, including interpreting satellite loading plans and Satellite Access Authorization (SAA), performing access/de-access of modems, conducting Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) isolation, and plotting and interpreting spectrum analyzer traces.
  • Analyzing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software and hardware and providing technical solutions.
  • Providing connection and integration solutions for communications systems and the Digital Radio Management System (DRMS)
  • Configuring routers to interface with shipboard radio communications systems.
  • Setting up and configuring both shore and shipboard SHF, UHF, VHF, HF, and other communications equipment.
  • Work with shipboard and shore site personnel in setting up and configuring voice and data cryptographic equipment.
  • Prepare and submit Satellite Access Request (SAR) and communications plans in support of LVC events.
  • Provide SME level support to other LVC areas in support of NCTE.
  • Prepare messages in standard Naval format as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree + 12 Years Communications/C4I experience or Bachelor’s degree in technical field with 15 Years Communications/C4I experience.
  • Must have extreme knowledge on multi-media RF existing SATCOM systems ( i.e., Super High Frequency (SHF) (DSCS X-Band), UHF, and EHF), future Ka, as well as commercial SHF Wideband systems in the C and Ku bands.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge in theory and practicality of RF physics as pertaining to satellite communications to include: Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA).
  • Must possess exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a group. Candidate may be required to manage technical teams.

Desired skills / experience:

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with US Navy shipboard C4I systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in Joint Communications a plus.
  • Experience with US Navy virtual training exercises and training events.
  • Additional networking and security certifications a plus, i.e. CCNA, CCENT, CISSP.

Education:

  • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college

Certifications:

  • IAT Level II certification
  • CompTIA Security+ with Continuing education (CE)
  • Meet Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) requirements.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • This position will require an active DoD Top Secret
