J OB RESPONSIBILITIES :
As part of the Parks and Recreation team, reporting directly to the Recreation Superintendent, this position is responsible for the management and supervision of the City’s Community Center. Responsible for direct oversight of facility operations including, scheduling, training and management of full-time staff, part-time staff and contractors. Reports maintenance/repair needs and inspects facility for cleanliness and safety. Direct oversight of daily banking, recreation software and customer service provision. Assists Recreation Superintendent and Parks & Recreation Director with development and oversight of the budget. Assures facility is adequately managed for the maximum safety and benefit of the community. Exercises initiative and professional judgement in performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
1. Leads and supervises assigned full-time and part-staff; develops and recommends policy; interviews applicants; recommends hiring, discipline and termination; leads, motivates, collaborates, empowers, rewards, coaches and celebrates employees; manages employee training program; manages work load; appraises and evaluates performance; prepares and submits payroll; addresses and solves problems; assists in budget process; develops and leads staff trainings; attends meetings.
2. Identifies recreation facility, programming and customer service trends, needs and programming opportunities; establishes rules of conduct; develops and implements policies and procedures for facility operations and provisions of service; evaluates performance of staff, contractors and vendors; reviews and evaluates services; makes recommendations for change and improvements as required to meet public needs; responsible for management and support of recreation software.
3.Ensures the Community Center is adequately supervised and adequately maintained; manages custodial and maintenance services; responsible for the provision of a quality guest experience. Cooperatively works with program staff to schedule the facility for the maximum benefit of the community; works with event staff to coordinate facility rentals.
4. Works with Recreation Superintendent and Parks and Recreation Director to set goals and develop policy; establishes and monitors performance metrics; monitors expenditures; submits and delivers reports; manages contracts.
5. Plans, organizes and promotes public awareness of the community center, programs, events and services in the community including publicity and social media.
6. Develops networks with other professional, community groups; attends conferences, seminars, and related courses; participates in professional organizations.
7. Serves as liaison between citizen work groups and participants for a variety of programs and events; prepares reports and other documentation as assigned.
8. Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any.
9. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
10. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation, Sport Management, Public Relations, or a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience managing recreation facilities and working with recreation programs and services; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
CPR certification; First Aid certification; Certified Parks and Recreation Professional desired; valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
