POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will represent the YMCA of Montclair within the community and serve as an ambassador for the Y’s programming and intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture focused on social responsibility and community engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Staff and attend 10-15 community tabling events a year (April-October)
- Engage event participants and share information about the Y’s programming and membership
- Illustrate the Y’s investment in being engaged in our community and a partner to other local organizations
- Assist with identifying community event/tabling opportunities across our service area and prioritizing opportunities based on strategic objectives
- Manage inventory for Y-branded giveaways for tabling events, including identifying and ordering items and anticipating and preparing for upcoming needs
- Work with Marketing and other departments to determine programming priorities to highlight to the public
- Assist with all logistics and planning for the Y’s community engagement events (including but not limited to MLK Day of Service, Black History Month, Welcoming Week, Back to school Backpack Drive, Veteran’s Day and volunteer appreciation events and holiday gift drive)
- Manage registration for Y events
- Assist with coordination of onboarding of volunteers working in the database Volunteer Matters and collaborating with Human Resources on volunteer background check requirements.
- Supports initiative's led by the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to engage the public with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a HS diploma
- Knowledge of the YMCA of Montclair’s membership and programming
- Evening and Weekend availability (10-15 hours a week)
- Must be able to work independently
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work takes place in the Y and at various sites in the community, many of which are outdoor events. This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

PAY RATE: $16 to $20 hourly
