Community Relations Representative (Southeast IN/Clark & Floyd Counties)

AREA: Based in Southeast, IN (including Clark, Floyd, Dearborn, Jefferson, & Harrison Counties). Must reside in Indiana.

We are seeking compassionate, outgoing, and people-oriented individuals to join our state-wide outreach team. This role is for individuals who enjoy helping, supporting, and sharing information with diverse and underserved populations in varied settings, with a focus on health, social services, education, and community and nonprofit spaces. Flexibility, teamwork, organization, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and follow-through are critical to this position. This position will require sustained periods of work at events and will require travel throughout the assigned region/counties (day travel by car only, no overnight travel).

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role supports the planning and implementation of health plan community outreach activities for Medicaid and Medicaid-eligible populations. This role is responsible for growing membership and serving the Medicaid and Medicaid-eligible populations and supporting community organizations serving these populations, including meeting community needs for ongoing educational and social service outreach to existing and potential members. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as service representative for assigned projects and as a resource to membership and community.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with community organizations, provider offices, and faith-based organizations, enhancing team presence in community.
  • Serve as a team representative at community events, fairs, activities, and programs.
  • Identify relevant community networks and advocacy groups with similar missions and values and share with team leadership.
  • Provide outreach and/or guidance to plan members and potential members regarding benefit and enrollment questions, and/or provide assistance regarding social service needs.
  • Exhibit cultural competencies and effectively communicate with and engage diverse groups.
  • Identify and enlist the cooperation of individuals, groups, social service agencies, and other community organizations in educational and outreach activities.
  • At times will require lifting, carrying, and setting up displays and outreach materials at events, moving promotional items, and other event duties.
  • Will include extensive travel throughout the assigned region/counties and requires flexible work schedule (day travel by car only, no overnight travel).
  • Ensure consistent compliance with all state, federal, and company specific requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must reside in Indiana
  • An Associate Degree at minimum. BA/BS preferred.
  • 1-2 year of paid or volunteer experience in health care, social services, outreach, community engagement, or sales/marketing environment.
  • Experience as a health care navigator preferred.
  • Experience in public health, social services, or related field a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Passion for customer service and building meaningful relationships.
  • Energetic, outgoing, and well-spoken.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to manage several projects at once.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit and community/health and human services organizations and agencies in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Perry, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Jennings, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio, and Switzerland Counties.
  • Knowledge of provider network that supports the delivery area, knowledge of plan and/or competitors value-added benefits preferred.
  • Position requires flexible hours and scheduling to support meetings and community events in the evening and occasionally on weekends.
  • Must be flexible and able to enjoy a varied workload.
  • Must have reliable car transportation. Frequent travel is required (day travel by car only, no overnight travel).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle with valid motor vehicle insurance required.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required. Knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
