Job Title: Community RN (Registered Nurse) – Part-time

Employee Type: Part-time, non-exempt

Pay: $30.00 hourly

Reports To: Residential Services Program Director

Summary
As a Registered Nurse with SCDDB, you are responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of persons served in the Residential Services and Day Services programs. You will:

  • Conduct monthly face-to-face visits of each residential client in their home.
  • Complete an assessment/evaluation at the time of the visit and document findings on the Residential RN Monthly Health Summary. This includes:
  • Review, analyze and interpret lab results. Ensure there is a system in place for lab work and follow-up;
  • Review of the physician's orders for physician signature, accuracy (including diagnosis) and staff compliance with the orders;
  • Review any new physician's orders and document the review with a signature and date.
  • Review of the MAR (medication administration record) for accuracy (compare to physician's orders) and staff compliance with administration, documentation, and follow-up of PRN medications;
  • Review of Comprehensive Health Notations;
  • Review of special diets, blood sugar, blood pressure, and choking risk protocols and ensure these are being followed and documented by staff;
  • Ensure a copy of the completed assessment is in the client file in the home and a copy to the Program Coordinator/Manager.
  • Maintain communication with agency management and the person served’s support team including reporting and documenting all changes in person served’s health status and needs.
  • Assist RD in completing Nursing Action Plans in CIMOR.
  • Provide staff training and delegation of specified tasks
  • One-year experience providing medical care & treatment and habilitation in the human service field.
  • Experience in the provision of medical care and treatment and habilitation to individuals who have other developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Has demonstrated abilities to motivate and supervise others.

Required Education/Prior Experience:

  • Active Registered Nursing license in the State of Missouri
  • 3+ years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in an administrative role, required
  • 2+ years of experience teaching and training staff
  • Experience in working with a diverse group of individuals

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and management philosophies and practices.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and communicate solutions through collaboration and application of strategic management.
  • Superior critical problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Must have a vehicle in good working order with current insurance and registration.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class E driver’s License
  • Must have general knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must have Medication Administration training or be willing to get it.
  • Must have current CPR and first-aid certification or be willing to get it.

Working Conditions:

Staff work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the persons served in program services. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. The Community RN needs to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. Depending on the needs of individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting, or moving items up to 50 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time, or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.

Required Training:

CPR/First Aid, Positive Behavior Supports, Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation, Blood Borne Pathogens, Person-Centered Planning, HIPAA/Privacy & Confidentiality, and any other assigned training.
