Summary:
The position of Community Work Supervisor in the department of Youth Service is part of the juvenile justice division. A person in this position performs supervision of both youth and adults that have received a condition of community work service as part of the client’s supervision plan. This position acts as a liaison with community stakeholders and other government entities to arrange and complete projects meant to provide value and skill building opportunities as part of the community work service program.
Essential Functions (in a typical work week):
Receive referrals for youth and adults to complete community work service requirements as part of a supervision plan. Referrals can be received from Wasco County Youth Services, Wasco County Community Corrections, NORCOR Juvenile Detention Youth Care Center, or other judicial districts with the authority to mandate community work service;
Screen youth and adults for capability and skills to complete specific community work service opportunities, provide safety information before participating in a work site;
Seek out and establish work sites within the City of The Dalles, Mt. Hood National Forest, Oregon Department of Transportation, Wasco County publicly owned lands, and other public lands deemed appropriate to receive work through the Community Work Service Program;
Provide on-site supervision of all youth and adults assigned to perform Community Work Service;
Maintain safety of work sites, including safely utilizing power tools, chainsaws and the log splitter located at the Wasco County property;
Maintain records of attendance and work site information;
Must have regular and predictable attendance.
Secondary Functions (in a typical work week):
Support other Wasco County Departments in the maintenance during inclement weather to maintain the safety and access for county properties;
Any employee may be required by their Supervisor to perform any of the duties described in his/her position description, and other duties which may be necessary or desirable and for which the employee is qualified;
Engage with Wasco County and the Department of Youth on continuous quality improvements, focusing on community service, agency efficiencies, and policy improvements.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements:
This section of the job description describes the physical effort and manual labor, such as sitting, standing, lifting, carrying, digging, operating equipment, performing with speed, etc., as well as the dexterity required to complete the job functions. The need for travel, extended hours, and situations of physical discomfort are also outlined here.
Positions rated at this level require occasional physical effort such as light lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Physical capability involves use of office or power equipment where some dexterity is needed. Movement around the work space is not challenging, and there are little to no restrictions on mobility.
A valid driver’s license is required as an essential function of this position.
Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure:
