- Congregational Life Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager, will marshal volunteer Lay Leadership of the Glide Memorial Church (GMC) congregation currently involved in GMC’s Congregational Life Groups, including Prayer Circle and Cares Team. These GMC leaders will connect with individuals in the community who are in need of serious illness care (SIC) and end-of-life services, as well as caregivers in need of support as dictated by the Stupski Grant.
- The Congregational Life Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager will foster and design a stewardship program for our large Congregational Life Program to bolster congregational participation, activism, giving, volunteerism, and Church community-building activities.

- Collaborate with the Minister and Congregational Life leaders to create a pathway for congregation, clients and community to engage with SIC and EOL resources.
- Organize events and initiatives to promote our vision for a just and peaceful world.
- Maintain visibility of Congregational Life programming through internal and external publicity.
- Recruit new congregation and community members into GMC efforts.
- Liaise with Fund Development to provide effective onboarding of Congregational Life giving.
- Report, analyze and draw regular insight from justice organizing efforts.
- Research relevant organizing tools and conduct analyses to further the precision, effectiveness and scope of GLIDE’s justice outreach.
- Stay up-to-date with latest social justice movements, technologies and tools as well as suggest and implement new organizing tools.
Implement effective Congregational Life actions
- Articulate that all Congregational Life Groups are Church Groups and Social Justice Groups.
- Support all Congregational Life Groups.
- Build strong relationships with internal GLIDE Programs and local partnerships (including but not limited to GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice, GLIDE Social Services Programs, GLIDE Community Engagement and Volunteer Department, Tenderloin Housing and Homelessness organizers, Tenderloin Food Security programs, Community Boards and Arts Planners).
- Work with Congregational Life leadership and the congregation to develop action strategies.
- Act as contact for justice-related requests from congregation and wider community.
- Develop and track goals and activities.
- Attend periodic staff, supervisory and community meetings.
Church Team Planning
- Work with the Ministerial Team: Ministers, Church Communications Specialists (and Communications team) to keep GLIDE’s website up to date, on brand and user-friendly.
- Work with Communications team to manage a large and ever-growing collection of digital assets in GLIDE’s digital asset management system.
- Assist in photography, video and other asset development as needed in promoting programs and events.

- Background in community organizing, program management, or volunteer management a plus
- Motivated self-starter who is willing to take direction and execute both independently and as a member of a team;
- Has the ability to prioritize and deliver work under tight deadlines while remaining effective and flexible within a fast-paced, highly fluid environment;
- Consistently maintains accurate and professional work habits, demonstrating a keen attention to detail;
- Skilled in and comfortable with interviewing a wide variety of people and gathering and synthesizing information from many sources;
- Maintains total confidentiality concerning highly sensitive information and acts with discretion at all times;
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills;

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 2 years previous experience working as a community organizer with low-income people.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; minimum Associate’s Degree required.
- Social work background and/or prior experience working with people impacted by mental illness, immigration policies, incarceration and racism.
- Outgoing personality and ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
- Positive, proactive and personable team player.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Comfort with social media and digital communication preferred.
- Graphic design skills preferred.
- Special interest in building power among low-income people of color to fight for social, economic and racial justice.

- Fluency in dominate social media platforms, especially: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.
- Knowledge of social media management platforms, especially Sprout Social a plus.
- Advanced skills in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Basic graphic design skills (facility with Photoshop or online design platforms such as Canva, PicMonkey, etc.) desired.
- Familiarity with Salesforce for Nonprofits a plus.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams a plus.
