Arcadis is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector for Municipal Water/Wastewater projects to join our growing Resilience Construction Management Team in Richmond, Virginia! This is an on-site project inspection role working with a dynamic team.

Role description:

The Construction Inspector will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment. The Inspector will report to a Construction Manager and will be primarily based in the field and will provide daily updates along with daily reports on construction activities.

Role accountabilities:

  • Observes and inspects construction work performed by contractors on a daily basis.
  • Maintains quality assurance requirements and approaches and monitors code compliance issues.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with contract documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
  • Regularly attends and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitors and documents contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation ensuring percentage completion is concurrent with construction.
  • While performing daily inspections, inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met.
  • Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of construction inspection experience.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint and Outlook).
  • Position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions, in potentially dangerous surroundings, on different shift hours and they must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Construction related area, Associates or Bachelors in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, a related field of study or area preferred. ABET accredited preferred.
  • Civil and utility experience on heavy civil construction projects.
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
