Job Description

CLASS TITLE: EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

This position is for the 23-24 school year.

BASIC FUNCTION : The Educational Consultant/Evaluator serves as a multidisciplinary team member who supports instruction by providing consultation, intervention, assessment, and comprehensive educational services to students from preschool through high school inHardinCounty.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Establish and develop rapport with school staff.
  • Participate in school/based Intervention Assistance Team process and/or collaborate with school staff on intervention plan development procedures.
  • Assist the schools in completing established state/district guidelines, as outlined in Hardin County Special Education Policies and Procedures, when interventions are unsuccessful and referral is appropriate.
  • Facilitate the reevaluation process as outlined in the Hardin County Special Education Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist school and district personnel in obtaining previous school and due process records of students who have transferred into Hardin County from other school districts.
  • Review records to determine eligibility based on Kentucky Guidelines and appropriateness of the Individual Education Plan.
  • Assist special education teachers and school counselors in determining whether to accept records and continue current IEP services or to place students on a 30-day Temporary Placement.
  • Complete the Triennial Reevaluation process if records are incomplete or if the student would not have been considered eligible for services based on Kentucky Guidelines.
  • Participate in ARC within 30 school days of the date of Temporary Placement to assist in developing Individual Education Plan and ensure appropriateness of program.
  • Keep abreast of current research and gain information about new assessment instruments and psychoeducational issues.
  • Seek and use opportunities for continuing professional development.
  • Disseminate information from research and provide professional development to staff.
  • Participate in scheduled district Support team meetings.
  • Develop and maintain records of referrals, reevaluation, consultations, and transfer students.
  • Ensure proper confidentiality of records.
  • Provide training to special education staff on regulations regarding development of Individual Education Programs.
  • Monitor and provide feedback to special education staff as they develop and submit Individual Education Programs.
  • Assist teachers in development of monitoring procedures and other data collection methods.
  • Support staff implementation of district Special Education Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide school-wide consultation as needed to facilitate staff’s ability to implement procedures and to meet particular needs of identified groups of students at risk for academic failure or having emotional/behavioral difficulties.
  • Provide support to parents by disseminating information to enhance understanding of psychoeducational issues, parenting skills, and involvement in their child’s education.
  • Support school staff in implementation of the Special Education Tracking System (SETS).
  • Support school staff in implementation of Autism Transition Planning procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Be familiar with and incorporate the use of technology in daily tasks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Master’s Degree Or Completed Fifth-Year Program
  • Valid State Teacher Certificate In The Subject Area
  • 3 Years Teaching Experience

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

202 days. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
