The Content Marketing Manager is a gifted writer, storyteller and strategic thinker who plans and activates content marketing programs primarily through editorial content such as blogs, case studies and white papers.
The Content Marketing Manager will set and lead the strategy for content marketing initiatives for Wray Ward’s clients as determined by the Content Marketing Director, the PR, Content Marketing and Social Media Group Director, and Connections Executive Director. The Content Marketing Manager works with directors and client teams to lead results-driven content marketing tactics. This role requires exceptional storytelling and writing skills to create editorial calendars, blog posts, email and newsletter campaigns, white papers, case studies, website copy and other types of editorial-based content. The Content Marketing Manager will work closely with the Content Marketing Automation team to ensure the effective execution of content marketing campaigns and will maintain a working knowledge of the technology platform capabilities utilized for execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Content Marketing Manager
Work with client teams (leads, client business directors, project managers) to develop written content materials in all forms for assigned client initiatives
Establish a strategic plan for content marketing programs including approach and tactics, editorial topic identification, calendars, cadence and proposed measurement metrics
Work with search managers to ensure content is aligned with search strategies and written to garner SEO benefits
Work with marketing automation managers to ensure accurate and effective deployment of content in alignment with the content strategy
Deliver content on time and on budget to team leads and/or clients
Write content, which may include blog posts, white papers, emails/newsletters, advertorials, case studies, website copy, magazines and other types of editorial-based content
Write content in a variety of voices, tones and complexities based on target audience expectations and preferences, from technical-heavy white papers to design-inspired blog posts
Work to become a subject matter expert on client issues, products and trends
Ensure the highest quality of work is being delivered to the client
Work closely with Client Engagement, Connections, Project Management and Resourcing and Creative teams to ensure a seamless project workflow
Additional Responsibilities as a Member of the Connections Team
Demonstrate strong writing, editing and communication skills with specific emphasis on the ability to quickly understand and write about a variety of topics
Have a firm grasp of the communication potential of the content being created
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how technology enhances the ways we create and deliver content, staying up to date on technology changes and evolutions
Work closely with the Content Marketing Director to ensure strategic goals are set for all content marketing projects
Work closely with the Connections team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across channels
Work closely with the Connections team to ensure firm understanding of how different platforms require different content types
Communication Skills
Communicate in a clear, coherent and professional manner in written and verbal communications
Listen well and solve problems to achieve the most effective outcome for the client, team and agency
Develop strong relationships across the agency, specifically with all Connections team members
Be a champion for agency process and best practices, specifically for the delivery of written content
Qualifications
3-5 years of writing experience, including writing about technical topics
Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated experience setting strategy for content marketing initiatives including email, newsletters, blogs, gated content and other editorial-based content programs
Proven ability to write for different target audiences and platforms, using tailored voices and writing styles as appropriate for those audiences and platforms
Ability to quickly understand and learn new information and/or products
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines
Must be Charlotte-based or willing to relocate
Ability to be onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
