PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION: The Continuing Education Instructor/Diabetes Educator is responsible for patient education for the Diabetes Self-Management Program and assists in the planning and organization of continuing education programs for the nursing staff..
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:
Previous Experience:
1. Minimum of three years nursing experience.
2. Previous experience with inservice education and diabetes patient education desirable.
Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc.:
1. Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Louisiana.
2. Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS preferred; instructor status desirable.
Other Special Training/Skills:
1. Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form.
2. Computer literacy.
3. Professional appearance and demeanor.
