Job Summary

To provide adult learners with the tools needed for success in education, workforce, and life.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Director by providing leadership to all AEL personnel in the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental goals/objectives in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot enrollment and retention issues in coordination with IET Director, TANF Coordinator, ICR Director, and QA/PA team.
  • Coordinate client intake, progress testing, and outtake processes in coordination with AEL instructors, career pathways team, college readiness team, and QA/PA staff.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure instructors have the necessary materials to successfully teach their class(es).
  • In the virtual setting, work with instructors as technical support for Zoom and BlackBoard.
  • Monitor attendance and create monthly attendance reports.
  • Support test administration by ensuring classes have proper working equipment and materials, as well as assist with placement examinations and test scoring.
  • Data entry.
  • Coordinate special events and special programs (e.g. GED Graduation, Honor Society Ceremony, etc.), as directed.
  • Attend outreach fairs and community events to recruit for Adult Education and Literacy programs, as needed.
  • Develop and establish relationships and partnerships with organizations and individuals in the interest of promoting adult education and literacy.
  • Maintain communication with partner sites to maintain a positive rapport.
  • Attend necessary conferences and seminars to remain current in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field or experience in education, Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of experience working in an education setting, preferably Adult Education.
  • High level of technical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student and employee population
  • Proficiency with computers and technology (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Google, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience teaching adults and/or facilitating groups
  • Experience working with educationally and/or economically disadvantaged adults
  • Experience working in collaborative or team environments
  • Manages time effectively
  • Maintains confidentiality of records
  • Dress is appropriate to the work environment
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, on regular basis.
  • Ability to work a flexible, split-shift schedule, including evenings, as needed.
  • Must be able to drive to and from meetings, events, and class sites throughout the service area.

  • Base Compensation for this 12-month position is $41,505
