Job description
The Coordinator of Operations at the University of Maine Fitness and Recreation Center will serve on a team responsible for the day-to-day affairs and will manage the front desk operations, aquatics, safety and risk management. As an American Red Cross licensed training provider, we provide educational and certification opportunities to support the diverse needs of the campus and the greater community, while providing opportunities for student instructors.
Essential Duties
- Assists in the coordination of front desk operations at the Fitness and Recreation Center including, but not limited to:
Hire, train, and supervise front desk student staff.
Facilitate training sessions with an emphasis on risk management, customer service, facility stewardship, leadership, and operations and facility specific knowledge.
Lead, manage, and support people and resources in a collaborative team-based environment.
Provides a high level of contribution for point-of-sale platform (RecTrac) for membership management, refunds, activity registrations, facility reservations and contracts, locker rentals, payroll deduction and invoiced memberships.
Maintains lobby program monitor to reflect current facility events.
Instructs American Red Cross First Aid/Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/Automated external defibrillator (AED), Standard First Aid (SFA), bloodborne pathogens training and possible aquatic courses, for student employees, full time staff, and community users.
Manages student risk management certifications and University training for student staff through scheduling software.
Offers monthly new hire orientation for all facility student employees.
Conducts monthly safety audits and emergency action plan training to instill confidence and critical thinking in emergencies with student employees.
Tracks and maintains inventory of safety equipment, first aid supplies and kits; and provide purchase recommendations based on needs.
Maintains accurate participation and program data for monthly and year-end reports.
Serves as transportation support for Mainely Outdoor and Summer Daze Camp trips.

Required
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Up to one year of relevant professional experience.
American Red Cross Instructor/Instructor Trainer Certifications in either Basic Life Support and First Aid/CPR/AED or Lifeguarding (current or obtained within 30 days of hire).
Valid Driver's License (in good standing, based on UMS standards).
Work hours are dictated by the schedule of activities and will regularly include both evening and weekend hours.
Preferred
Experience in a collegiate environment.
Working knowledge of technology including RecTrac, RecCenter, and Excel.
Experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling.
