Coordinator, Student Engagement & Leadership

The Coordinator, Student Engagement & Leadership supports the extracurricular and co-curricular experience at Emerson College; including hands-on leadership development of students and designing and implementing Campus Wide programming. The Coordinator will provide meaningful opportunities valuing equity, inclusion, and accessibility to the greater student community and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all students.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Advising Emerson Mane Events (EME) student programming board, supervising student staff, collaborating with campus departments and managing the day-to-day function of the board
  • Collaborate with campus wide program committees including Orientation, Student Organization Fair, Family Weekend, Recruitment events and other Student Affairs functions to promote student engagement in extracurricular and co-curricular activities
  • Promotes, organizes, and coordinates campus special events such as Week of Welcome, Back to Boylston, Late Night Breakfast, and other events
  • Help create intentional branding and marketing to promote the office and its resources and services
  • Create new initiatives and oversee traditional programming to ensure they are aligned with the strategic goals/mission of the institution; focuses on enhancing the sense of community, student retention, leadership development, and commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Management of SEAL events and activities including, but not limited to: providing support, compliance, budgeting, development and leadership ensuring vitality and success
  • In consultation with Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, serve as the point person for the creation and oversight of campus-wide leadership training efforts, including StrengthsQuest, Equity and Inclusion, and Accessibility initiatives
  • Provide advising support for the Emerson Recognition and Achievement Awards
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees who support student events and programming

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's Degree in college student personnel administration, higher education administration, or a related area preferred OR 1-2 years professional or graduate level experience within a higher education setting preferred
  • One to three years professional experience with advising, program planning, event management, and contracting
  • Experience advising programming board preferred

  • Experience with student development and leadership training
  • Ability and experience working effectively with diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Understands social media uses (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position will be between $49,249 - $59,098 annually, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: 23-06E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
